Gay neo-Nazis Marry during White Supremacist Rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Neo-Nazis Matthew Brooks and Shawn Thomas chose the same date as a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia to cement their same-sex relationship in marriage. What is believed to be the largest gathering of neo-Nazis, Ku Klax Klan and white nationalists for decades was, for the happy couple, the ideal date for their wedding. Matthew Brooks said, “What better day to show our love to the world than this beautiful event which reunites thousands of people of the same faith and racial beliefs”. Matthew and Shaun are both members of Virginia-based Vanguard America white supremacist group.
Whilst it is popularly believed that white supremacists are homophobic Michael further commented “Not all neo-Nazis are against gays. Love between two white Aryan males is a beautiful thing, but it wouldn’t be the same thing with a negro or a fence-hopper,” evidently the more benign attitude does not extend to racial tolerance.
However, the fact that Matthew and Shawn felt able to marry on the day the rally was taking place surely demonstrates a change in attitude towards same-sex relationships that has even reached a most challenging section of presumed homophobic society.
The Ruling Party in Malaysia rejects Malaysian Human Rights Commission’s recommendation on Human Rights for the LGBT community
The prime minister of Malaysia, Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, has quashed any hope of improvement in the attitude displayed towards the LGBT community in his country with his unequivocal statement that “in Malaysia there are some things we cannot accept” in a reference to a report presented by the Suhakam, the Malaysian Human Rights Commission, which included proposals to improve the rights of the LGBT community. Dr. Mohamed further commented “we have to remind Suhakam that Malaysia has a different value system than the Westerners. For instance, we cannot accept LGBT as well as the marriage of man and man or woman and woman.” [sic]
Despite the fact that Dr. Mohamed disapproved of the canning of two women recently for their attempt to engage in lesbian activities in a car, he clearly feels that LGBT citizens are not entitled to the same human rights as the rest of the Malaysian population.
